Lean Production Award 2023

The light metal foundry of the BMW Group plant in Landshut has won the renowned Automotive Lean Production Award in the "Component Supplier" category.

The award focuses on the criteria of process excellence, sustainability, digitalisation and innovation. "We are very proud of this high award, which demonstrates the excellent performance level of our production system," says Karl Bauer, Head of Production Die Casting, Lost Foam and Injector Casting.

In the "Component Supplier" category, the Karl Bauer team convinced the jury in terms of technological competence, innovative strength and process excellence. The jurors were extremely positive about the high degree of implementation of lean methods. These are, for example, the consistent value stream work, the practised shop floor management on all hierarchy levels, the management via key figures as well as the use of digitalisation in the form of smart maintenance, data analytics and systematic process data and parameter analyses. They particularly emphasised the motivation and passion of the employees as well as their identification with their work.

The award ceremony will take place on 14 November at BMW Welt in Munich as part of the Automotive Lean Production congress organised by Agamus Consult GmbH. There, site manager Stefan Kasperowski and head of department Karl Bauer will receive the award.
