Franken Guss was open to electromobility at an early stage. Developments for chassis and drive components intended for a BEV (battery electric vehicle) sports car platform were launched back in 2016. As a result of these developments, Franken Guss was able to win the series order for eleven components in laminar die casting and one component made of cast iron with nodular graphite. With this project, several million euros have already been invested in die casting and CNC machining systems at the Kitzingen site.

At the end of 2019, Franken Guss was awarded the contract for another project for a BEV platform. This project involves components for refrigerant compressors with high requirements for a pressure-tight cast structure. This project was also successfully developed into series production. The most recent success is the commissioning of a new BEV platform in 2023, which will later be used as the basis for both sporty saloons and sport utility vehicles. The scope of parts includes crash-relevant safety components for the chassis, which must also be suitable for welding. Series production is expected to start in 2027. Until then, the components will be developed together with the customer for laminar aluminium die casting. In addition to component development, capacity in the production and quality testing areas will be expanded. Winning this project will massively increase the share of electromobility.
